What the Bible actually says
God holds shepherds answerable for how the sheep actually fare: whether the weak were strengthened, the wounded bound up, the strays sought, and the flock fed His word rather than the leader's ideas. Jeremiah 23 and Ezekiel 34 read like an inspection of the pasture, and the pastoral epistles set the tone — gentle, patient, kind even to opponents (2 Timothy 2:24-26).
