Reconciling with a parent

No relationship shapes a heart like the first one — which is why wounds from a mother or father run deepest and last longest. The last verse of the Old Testament aims exactly here: 'He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers' (Malachi 4:6) — turned hearts are God's own project. Two truths hold this path: honoring a parent never required pretending nothing happened, and where a parent is unsafe, forgiveness can be full while access stays guarded.
