Military deployment

Deployment strains everything at once: the danger you can't discuss, the family managing without you, the distance from every person and pew that knows your name, and the armor a heart learns to wear just to function. The soldier's psalm was written for exactly this posting: 'He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High... my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust' (Psalm 91:1-2).
