Before your pastoral check-in
A pastoral check-in is a gift: a private, unhurried conversation about how your soul actually is. But its value rises or falls on one thing — whether the real you shows up. 'Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting' (Psalm 139:23-24) — pray that before the meeting, and the meeting changes. Walk this short path in the days before your check-in; if you want, share the evidence with your pastor so the conversation starts at depth instead of at 'fine, thanks.'
